...But before I do, I need to blog, and conveniently enough, literally less than five minutes ago, I thought of content. In this case, for Phyrra and Cyrus. The tech level for Phyrra and Cyrus is, overall, somewhere between "modern age" and "1600s". Let's average it and say 1800s. Of course, it being a fictional world which functions with magic intertwined with science to the point where a person talking about scientific theory will be referencing magic because magic is a part of their science because that's what magic WOULD be in a setting which has always had magic frankly.

I can basically pick and choose whatever I want in terms of what's in the setting and what's not. You should have a fairly loose sense of an aesthetic for what there is. Rifles exist, but are single-shot; muskets are more common; there's no multi-shot weapons; there's skyscraper cities; there's no cars, but magical beasts of burden for wagons work just as well, trains might soon become a form of transportation, an expensive spell for instant transportation is runic return, and so on and so forth.

And it being a fictional world. Its dates aren't going to correspond to ours.

And that's what I worked on. In our world, we've got 6,000-7,000 years' worth of recorded history, loosely speaking. And I decided I might as well steal from that:
The setting of Phyrra and Cyrus begins in the year 6829 LC. LC being what you can think of as equivalent to combining AD and BC: The start of that calendar's usage, which coincides with the start of recorded history. WE have that shifted into BC and AD because...well, no real good reason actually, just because, pretty much. This is a calendar more or less just removing the unnecessary break, more or less.

​I haven't really put much detail into it beyond that, but hey, give me some credit here, I'm literally writing this as I go to bed.

For a start, I created a new minor villain, yet unnamed, who would be one of the lieutenants (but a human one) of the second big bad (that being, Gunther). I know what he's like, but I haven't given him anything other than his function as an opponent to challenge Phyrra briefly during the struggle.

The main thing I did today for the setting, though, was work on a song, which I believe I will make the opener of the first season: "Reach to the Sky". I only got half a chorus there, but it got me thinking. A previous opener I was working on can be made to fit the theme of rock (and I had it as second opener); this opener is obviously air and is the first, so.

Four seasons. Two existing (albeit both half-finished) openers being elemental.

So I figured, I might as well continue it and have the third be fire and the fourth be water.

Don't exactly have them written out tho.

Still!

It's progressing.

Closers will be more reflective of content for the show, I feel. At least the third certainly is, so if it's more reflective of the content why not the others.

I just need to finish them now.

Apparently our old cat has a bunch of small health issues. Numerous ones. The most lethal of them being some sort of kidney disease which is 100% untreatable--it is guaranteed to be lethal. Apparently, when diagnosed early and with treatment, a cat can live potentially up to four years after diagnosis, but that's with treatment and at maximum.

So he is going to die. I'm hoping that his quality of life will be maintained for the longest duration possible, too. Cats can't understand that treatments which from their perspective are hurtful help them live longer; as far as they're concerned, the humans are putting them through pain and they don't know why. So it's my hope that it won't come down to that. That what he gets will be less destructive to his happiness.

Basically, he's old but he still thoroughly enjoys his life right now. Especially since we got him a play-mate in the form of our little kitty. (The size difference between them is hilarious. Our old cat is a big cat. He is big for cats. Our younger cat is basically a runt. She's over a year old and thus fully grown and yet she's small.)

I also don't want our little kitty to be lonely with him gone, so yes I want him to live, and yes I enjoy his presence so in that way I also want him to live, but I don't want him to suffer, and yet at some point I fear those two will come into conflict and no matter what there will be pain involved.

But...there's not much we can really do. He's over fourteen years old, now. The average life expectancy is 16-20ish, so he is getting up there. And while he on the outside still looks like a cat in his prime, still looks like a vibrant, youthful kitty and acts that way, too...internally, his body IS that of an old elder.

I know it's a part of life...but I hate it.
Everything dies eventually, and in some ways knowing about it makes you more prepared for when it comes, but...in other ways it is just so, so much worse.

I don't like losing things dear to me.
Least of all, knowing I will lose it and yet still having it.
And knowing that depending on the nature of treatments, it could lead to them suffering down the road.

It's just...not something I like to deal with.

I try to recognize that death is a celebration of life.
That to die gives meaning to life.
That it makes me appreciate the time that I have.
And so on and so forth.

​But I still selfishly, greedily, want more.

...I coulda sworn I had, but apparently not.

Oh well.

Anyway, I have family night tonight, so I'll be doing that. Not expecting much, but oh well.

So like.
I was all manic earlier today.
A manic state is the perfect state to be in to blog.

You know why? Because when I'm manic, I just need an outlet to basically let it out until I'm no longer manic, and a nice, convenient way for me to do that is to write a bunch of words about something I'm passionate about.

...If these blogs had timestamps, you would be able to easily tell I did not.

Thus, terrible human being.
