I wrote a song which has a rather obvious connotation.
I call it...
The Know-It-All
Random things just stick with me,
Processes and knowledge especially.
I've learned to pick understanding,
To be useful, and load-bearing.
On every thing I would invest,
There's no mistake I do the best.
It doesn't matter what subject,
I endlessly try to be correct.
I remember the data easily,
I really do like collecting.
Never one area specifically,
It's an array of topics a many.
I can quite tie them together,
I will one after another.
I'm always proud to have been heard,
I often take pride when I learn.
I'm some kind of know-it-all,
In info I'm the boss,
I'm a master of trivia,
I've no need for luck.
I've always got the facts,
It's the same in abstract,
In truths how people act,
Yet in use I do lack.
I know I have been annoying,
It's all too hard not to be,
I will ramble on when free,
All my myriad of musings.
I can quite tie them together,
I will one after another.
I'm always proud to have been heard,
I often take pride when I learn.
I'm some kind of know-it-all,
In info I'm the boss,
I'm a master of trivia,
I've no need for luck.
I've always got the facts,
It's the same in abstract,
In truths how people act,
Yet in use I do lack.
I'm some kind of know-it-all,
In info I'm the boss,
I'm a master of trivia,
I've no need for luck.
I've always got the facts,
It's the same in abstract,
In truths how people act,
Yet in use I do lack.
All I ever wanted
Was fellow spirits
Maybe we'd find
What am I?
I'm some kind of know-it-all,
In info I'm the boss,
I'm a master of trivia,
I've no need for luck.
I've always got the facts,
It's the same in abstract,
In truths how people act,
Yet in use I do lack.
I'm some kind of know-it-all,
In info I'm the boss,
I'm a master of trivia,
I've no need for luck.
I've always got the facts,
It's the same in abstract,
In truths how people act,
Yet in use I do lack.
...Thaaat. Just about sums up my autism to me. It's not perfect (hey I have to work within the confines of a rhyme and I made it doubly-challenging on myself by throwing in as much double-rhyming as possible and also trying to maximize the amount of similar sounds sort-of like I am doing with this paragraph but done properly), but for a song, I think it does a fairly good job of describing what I am, so I thought it worth sharing.
In other creative news, last night I had a dream which isn't exactly the most original of things, but was still noteworthy. Basically, the dream centered around a setting that was part-fantasy, part-supernatural, part-Tron, and mostly stereotypical crime show.
...Okay so maybe that exact combo might be a little bit more original but it's actually ridiculously cliched. Basically. In the dream, some humans have a gift, where they are able to perceive the supernatural, like seeing a person as an orc (in this setting, orc = pig-like) that they really are--this gift is in about a third of the population, dormant. It requires stimulation to be activated, for them to actually perceive these creatures for what they really are.
This is rather more rare, though still has quite a lot of people. Enough for whole organizations with humans leading them to exist. These creatures exist in our realm, but have very limited abilities: for the most part. An orc is just a human. Just with the appearance of an anthropomorphic pig. Maybe slightly fatter than average, maybe slightly stronger than average (having the endomorph body type, essentially, where even if they appear obese it's still strength all the same), but otherwise humanish enough.
They might have slight gifts, but mostly. Just humans. That aren't actually human.
...Yet. (And herein enters the Tron/supernatural part.) There exists a mirror world which anyone can enter. Awakened (that is, humans who can see the otherworldly creatures) can perceive this world just the way the creatures can: as that mirror world really is. Unawakened humans just have bad things happen to them or are forcefully awakened by the experience.
This mirrorrealm is somewhere those creatures gain magical abilities. Humans don't have access to any magic, though they do have technology and technical know-how (runes, alchemy, charms, holy objects, etc.) which allows them some degree of influence anyway.
The dream focused around a cop guy, awakening, and essentially his whole unit being reassigned to a special task force dealing with crimes of the mirrorrealm. The MWPD task force, as they're known, has full legal authority and basically enforce the laws the otherworldly live by, which are a mixture of human laws and their own. (Human laws of course were themselves partially shaped by otherworldly creatures--after all, to an unawakened human, the otherworldly creatures are just humans so they wouldn't know their lawmaker wasn't actually human.)
I focused mostly on watching the origins of this task force, as I got the impression I was watching a really, really famous series...in its infancy, rather than showing the time period of that series when it is more well-known. Whether that was due to a medium shift or due to it being a series which Grew The Beard, I don't remember, but I still loved the concept.
Now if you don't mind...got dance tonight, so need sleep. A nap should suffice.
