I called the song, "The perfect girl of my dreams".
I am not the best at this,
But I stand here with a wish.
I'm a normal human being,
Aside from a few eccentricities.
Character quirks and weird food tastes,
All normal but I wish for great.
I want a perfect girl apparently,
Let me show you the girl of dreams.
A girl not afraid to be seen
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who's spirited and free
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who knows how to party
That's the girl I want for me
Yeah, that's the girl I want for me.
I know it sounds like I'm dumb,
But truth is I just want fun.
I'm quite a little bit naive,
Because I want this fantasy.
I don't need it to live life,
But with it I would feel alive.
The perfect girl to be happy,
That girl I show you in dreams.
A girl not afraid to be seen
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who's spirited and free
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who knows how to party
That's the girl I want for me
Yeah, that's the girl I want for me.
A girl not afraid to be seen
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who's spirited and free
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who knows how to party
That's the girl I want for me
Yeah, that's the girl I want for me.
Nothing separates me from you.
Not except what you do.
Everyone should have a chance,
I say why not have a dance.
A girl not afraid to be seen
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who's spirited and free
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who knows how to party
That's the girl I want for me
Yeah, that's the girl I want for me.
A girl not afraid to be seen
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who's spirited and free
That's the girl I want for me
A girl who knows how to party
That's the girl I want for me.
Yeah, that's the girl I want to be.
...Aaaaaaand, the realization sinks in with that last line of the song. It's a fairly simple song otherwise. I sorta already have a tune in mind, and unique to this song, not just the lyrics; I sort-of have a vague feeling what the instruments would sound like. Furthermore, there's one thing that made this truly unique:
I envisioned a music video to go along with it.
The music video would start with a guy, barechested, staring at a mirror. At some point, it would transition into showing him watching a girl, and the girl is doing a bunch of things: kissing another girl, dancing with a guy, partying, daily activities done awesomely, while the guy looks on. Again, giving the impression that this is a guy, who likes a girl.
...Yet near the end of the last chorus line, it goes back to the guy barechested at the beginning, and around the time of the last lyric, he sees in the mirror a reflection of the girl, puts on a wig, and while not looking like her, becomes closer in appearance. He then reaches for a bra, making the song's meaning about as explicit as possible, that it's about a transwoman wanting to express herself.
Now, I'm not entirely sure that these are the lyrics I'll use. I might tweak them a bit, play around with things like lyrics dealing with confidence, fear, and whatnot, maybe I'll lengthen the song to keep everything in there, maybe I'll just trim some of the fluff even though I think the fluff keeps it lighthearted, hopeful, and slightly humorous. I definitely need to double-check lyrical consistency for one thing. (Having it so that each verse has near-equal distribution of syllables as to not trip myself up singing.) But this was the general idea, and I love it.
