There was a buff to Varus, which will cause more people to play him, but I actually like playing against Varus. It's a poke versus poke matchup. Mind you, I suck at dodging his abilities (you'd think that his piercing arrow would be an easier-to-dodge version of Caitlyn's ability, with the ridiculously long wind-up time, but no, I get hit by them all the time even when I swear I've been out of the trajectory), but he's a champion whose abilities I understand how to deal with and his style is similar to Ashe's.
Like, in terms of adcs, he, Caitlyn, Jhin, Lucian (Ashe kinda hard-stomps Lucian), and Ezreal are some of my favorite champions to face as the enemy adc. Because they are champions who have similar abilities to Ashe in terms of poke and all-in potential and I have reasonably good understanding of them. (Jinx would also be there but I'm less fond of facing her because I usually can't beat her whereas I can usually beat Varus, Caitlyn, Jhin, Lucian, and Ezreal. It's been a while since I've faced a Jinx tho, so we'll have to see.) I guess Miss Fortune's also good to go up against, too. Xayah's pretty easy as well. (Draven's not exactly similar in style, but he's not hard either.) Technically Sivir's similar but she falls in the Jinx category of "I basically never face her but traditionally do poorly against her".
Of course, there's a few adcs I'm less fond of facing, the type who are good at gap-closing and dueling/all-inning. Tristana, Kai'sa, Vayne, technically-Quinn (she's more of a toplaner tho), probably Corki, probably Kog-maw, technically-Graves, probably-Heimerdinger, and the like. (I also dislike playing against Twitch though he doesn't qualify as that style.)
But the only one of those who got a buff was Corki, who is more of a midlaner. I guess Kalista also got a buff, but nobody plays her so she's not a problem.
Usually left to my own devices, I ban support picks because they're the larger threat to me. Lux, Morgana, Veigar, as the unholy trinity. Picks that are also midlaners but are at their most annoying when as the enemy team's support because I cannot play around them for the life of me. Zyra would be up there too but nobody plays her and even the change to her this patch won't make people play her.
And even against the champions I'm not fond of playing against that are adcs.
It's not like any of them are 100% losses for me; I can and do stomp them on occasion, I just don't like playing against them because they are annoying to deal with and easy to kill me on and most of them outscale me. (Corki, Tristana, Kai'sa, Kog-maw, Jinx, and Sivir I am all fairly certain are champions that have some of the best lategame scaling in the game? Vayne might fit into that category but I'm not sure. Heimer is also very good at scaling but I don't know where he falls overall.)
Like, most adcs if they get a lead can snowball into an insurmountable lead that never falls off in the lategame and have reasonably strong lategame scaling and are midgame monsters. If Vayne isn't one of the lategame monsters, she's here; Varus I'm pretty sure is in this category as well; I'd probably guess Xayah's around here in my opinion.
But some are easier to get that lead than others; some are easier to make comebacks against than others. And overall not many are annoying enough to warrant a ban.
But Aphelios does warrant a ban and will continue to warrant a ban until Riot realizes that him having the highest skill cap in the game, doesn't justify him being so strong in the hands of even unskilled players, and that cherry-tap nerfs to him aren't enough to stop that status from still being true.
So until next patch at minimum, probably still keeping my Aphelios ban.
But the really exciting changes are in Teamfight Tactics.
Riot has seemed to have decided, "Oh, comps are OP? Well, we've got the perfect fix to that: make other comps be OP! And if they already were, make them moreso!"
They buffed Druids--their regen and Neeko specifically.
They buffed Light units (when Lucian with Senna is already ridiculously broken).
They did give a minor nerf to Ocean 2, but most users of the comp run Ocean 4 anyway which they left untouched so Ocean/Mage/Warden/Mountain will still be a thing.
They buffed Shadow in spite of Shadow being OP in part due to the Senna-Lucian combo.
I'm incredibly fond of the Vayne buff.
They buffed Predators/Glacials by buffing Warwick and Scarner.
They buffed Jax and Malzahar, again helping Berserkers, Light, Shadow, and Summoners, all of which were already strong.
They buffed Senna.
They buffed Syndra, part of the Ocean/Mage broken combo.
They buffed Aatrox.
They buffed Azir.
They buffed Master Yi.
Pretty much the only buff to a non-OP combo was Varus, counterbalanced by the nerf to Annie and Amumu. I guess also Twitch.
And the only nerfs were to assassin-heavy comps that were already falling out of favor.
Plus a nerf to Sivir which I don't care about since I don't use her anyway.
And a nerf to Nami but I didn't use her anyway.
Overall.
The game is making basically every change I would want to run my favorite comps.
And doing nothing to discourage me from running them.
Me like!
