In theory, that would have allowed us to leave much, much, much earlier than we had originally planned. In practice? In practice, we ended up leaving at 2:45, essentially the time we would have left at if we had to have picked me up after the full duration of my shift. (About 15-20 minutes to town, plus shopping = them getting to me after 3, when my shift would have ended.)
And my sister who we picked up also had work until 4. We'd have made it up there if not for stopping and also for the heavy level of traffic. My parents were cursing and surprised that this had happened, having not anticipated it. I did, but it honestly wasn't that important to me, so it wasn't too much of an issue. Butyeah. We arrived at our motel theoretically with plenty of time, but my sisters in particular take a lot of time to get ready. (I did not.) My mom also needed to eat--I had subway (having to pay AGAIN), my sisters had fried chicken, my mom had baked chicken.
Of course, my dad right in my face immediately began to chow down on food which drove me away. My misophonia is either being exposed to the same sound more often, or it has gotten worse. More smacking sounds are triggering it. (A lot of them, in class, necessitating headphones and a youfail.org loop since listening to Wizards in Winter to drown out the noise is more than welcome as a quick easy fix for the trigger.) Yet his? Still the absolute worst and the worst part is that unlike the others he actually KNOWS he triggers it. Heck! He even knows what misophonia is. So I was not amused.
I managed, via locking myself in a room and making noise, but it was still very annoying.
Anyway. I wore my really really really fancy, nice, white shirt today. Know that white shirt I mentioned I look good in? Well this shirt apparently puts it to shame. It also matches my older sister, who is my dance partner. I'd share a picture on my blog, but that's one of the things I'm not sure whether I want to do that out in the open.
I'd be more than happy to--and probably WILL--share the picture to anyone who asks. Like, hyperlinking to it or even posting an image, if I am using software which allows that.
In fact I kinda want to. (I'm about to try and get my internet working to maybe post this entry the day of, and if I do then I'm going to take the picture--and if I take the picture, I really really really want to SHARE the picture.)
But that'll depend on whether I can get my laptop's built-in webcam to work.
Anyway! In the mean time. We did arrive at the dance, albeit about five, ten minutes late. It was quite fun, though the hall for this year has...issues.
The main dance hall? Absolutely abysmal acoustics. It didn't matter what equipment they used. Or who was calling/cueing. You couldn't hear them.
Additionally, there's no easy access to any water fountains. There's literally water fountains in every possible location...
...EXCEPT for where they'd actually be needed. Meaning, dehydration is going to be even MORE of an issue tomorrow than normal. It's always problematic (it's a hot, humid environment where you're physically active and you can only drink small quantities of water at a time. So thirst is always an issue. It'll be much worse this time around.
Still. It'll be doable.
And yeah. It's now 10:30. I did get the internet to work (though to do so I had to mark the hotel internet as a home network, which is a bit dubious, and might mess with my settings at home), and did take the picture, so when I get a chance, I'll share with those who ask for it. Personally, my opinion? I actually like the material and aesthetic of the material I'm wearing more, yet in spite of me knowing it is objectively a "better" outfit, I actually feel more better about the plain white shirt. I guess it's because of what the material is meant for.
The plain white shirt is dress attire, which while technically male is in practice unisex. The shirt I'm wearing right now is made from material which is actually more feminine, but the design is definitively more male: it was designed to be quite literally, a 'Disney Prince', so it's a little too male for my taste. Ah well. Tomorrow I'll be wearing my REALLY nice black dress shirt (think, "everything my plain white dress shirt has, only better because it's black and snap-on buttons"), accompanied by a dark blue vest. Which I think I'll feel better in, thus saving it for tomorrow. Also, it'll once more match my older sister.
Anyway. That's about all I've got. I have a few things to do before I go to bed (namely: pills, brushing my teeth, changing out of my dance clothes, and pills), but I'm thinking that once I post this blog (well at this stage it's still iffy if I CAN post the blog), I'm essentially going to bed.
Of course, that'll be as soon as I can get through. I have internet. It's just that some windows process on my laptop eats up over half my cpu and there's nothing I can do to stop that because it is a natural part of windows (not a virus, not an antivirus, not any other program), but I'll get through with patience and time.
