The game will be very close because both teams are good. I feel the need to root for Damwon Gaming both because it gives better odds of knocking TL out and it's the only chance of my prediction coming true of Damwon Gaming placing first in the group. Will it happen? 51-55% chance, yes. I don't expect them to smash IG and I don't expect them to be smashed by IG, but I do think that they are good enough to win.
AHQ versus TL...my GOD would it feel oh so sweet for AHQ to beat TL. It'd basically knock TL out of contention right then and there, if Damwon beat IG and AHQ beat TL. I'd love to see that happen! But it won't. Team Liquid win that fight because while I don't really think TL's that competent of a team, my faith in AHQ as a basically-nobody team is even lower.
FPX versus Splyce, the casters predicted FPX. Top China team, beating RNG and IG for top seat. One of their best performing teams at Rift Rivals. Solid, strong team. Against a team who's consistently shown themselves to be shaky. Fair. I am still rooting for Splyce to win, and actually? I think they have what it takes. FPX has shown weakness that can be exploited. Their loss proved that they're not unbeatable. Splyce is a good enough team to do exactly that. Yeah, sure, maybe they're a better team than what they showed in their previous match. I think that Splyce is a better team than what FPX in their better state shows.
That is to say, top-form Splyce beats top-form FPX. The only question is whether Splyce are in top-form tomorrow. Since this kinda mirrors the G2 versus Griffin match today in that regards, where I say "The EU team wins if they are in top form, but lose if they aren't", I'll go out on a limb and say that Splyce will perform at their higher level, enough to take the match in the end, in spite of it being a close one.
JT versus GAM, heck if I know. I don't know the teams and don't really care about them. I'll venture a guess at it being GAM just for the sake of making a guess, but it's literally a match of the loser teams for who's third and who's fourth.
Griffin versus Hong Kong Attitude, Griffin win or they just outright don't deserve to make quarterfinals. They should smash HKA because they are a team who should be leagues above HKA. HKA might not be bad, but Griffon are good and HKA aren't good enough to get the win.
G2 versus Cloud9, G2 also win handedly. We saw NA versus EU during rift rivals. Yes, that was in an older patch; doesn't matter. The champions seeing buffs/nerfs and thus the meta changing doesn't change the skill of the players involved. And G2 are simply put: good. They are good players, and in their match today, proved that, "sure, the meta has changed from when you last saw us dominate with our style; it doesn't matter, we're still the best".
Whereas Cloud9...well to be frank, they shouldn't have struggled this much to get their win and yet they did, barely skating by on a hair's breadth. They are not in top form and even if they were in top form, I don't think a Cloud9 in top form can beat even a G2 who's not in top form. That G2 are in top form means that it's basically a given that G2 win.
Soyeah, those are my predictions for tomorrow.
