I mean, technically I started playing yesterday, but I had already blogged yesterday and I didn't really start playing until after midnight so it seemed like an entry best left for today.
One thing I've noticed: Minecraft is a much, much easier game to play while multitasking attention vaguely focused on a stream. I watch plenty of streamers, but I like to multitask. My previous multitasking game was TFT, but that game has a few issues. It's fullscreen, it's time-sensitive, and most importantly, playing it causes the stream to lag. Minecraft is none of those things. I mean, sure, yeah, some things require vaguely paying attention. Making sure you're in a safe area. Making sure that if you're not the only one online, to sleep during the night unless the other people online don't need it. Stuff like that.
But mostly? You can play it while watching a stream just fine. I quite like it.
My base is beginning to shape up. It's a little bit of an abomination, but I quite like it. I've got food from apples and berries (the apples spawn often enough that I don't need to harvest the berries, but if I DID...they're there in a plentiful amount), got a good wood farm going, am near water, have sand, have plenty of open space and am on grassland, am near lots of good stuff, and my girlfriend helped set up a rather nice mine for me which I've been working on expanding.
