The working title I have for it (may change) is "Remember us", and this is what I have:
There was a time we judged by race,
Which most now see as disgrace.
A time men were thought superior,
That thought most now deter.
Now a new wave's there of need,
One we want in history.
"Please help us with this change",
We call out and say.
Transwoman, transman,
Being trans is who I am.
Genderqueer or fluidity,
These are things you can be.
Agendered, bigendered,
You could even be a third.
We are people, human;
Denying that should be banned.
Some of us commit suicide,
Yet I say we stand with pride.
All of us have identities,
Which living should be free.
We are diverse as can be,
"So stop stereotyping!"
Fear, hate, our daily lives,
Live in, face, ask "why".
Transwoman, transman,
Being trans is who I am.
Genderqueer or fluidity,
These are things you can be.
Agendered, bigendered,
You could even be a third.
We are people, human;
Denying that should be banned.
Can't afford to lose,
That is me and you.
We exist that (i)s true,
No matter what (it is) they do.
Transwoman, transman,
Being trans is who I am.
Genderqueer or fluidity,
These are things you can be.
Agendered, bigendered,
You could even be a third.
We are people, human;
Denying that should be banned.
...Now I'm not sure I love the verses or the bridge, so I might change or tweak them, too, but I absolutely love the chorus. Detailing the entire trans spectrum would be impossible, but I think I hit most of the right notes in the song. The song is also calling out, it's asking people who're trans to stay strong, it is saying to those who aren't that yes we exist, yes we are real, no we are not any less of people because of it, no, we don't all fit into the same mold, and yes, we go through incredible struggles.
I definitely liked the concept, and I think that more people need to create things like this.
