The bad? ...Well, sort of. Turns out my fancy new scanner is just as bad as the other one. Because I've kept most of my lineweights light, a fair majority of the "unfinished" work is entirely invisible to the naked eye.
The frustrating? My computer is being a pain right now, doing some sort of CPU-eating abomination of a task. It's something that I know I once looked up, and found out is a legitimate thing Windows NEEDS to do every once and a while to keep the computer running at all, but it's making an already-daunting task much harder than it needs to be.
Anyway, without further ado, the image as I have it:
Still, though, in spite of how much is absent, you can definitely see where I'm coming from here. A half-strung bow (I found a really good reference image for that, but it was (1) only for the bow itself and showing none of the body, (2) for a guy, (3) facing a slightly different angle, and most importantly (4) for a leftie rather than a right-handed shooter such as Ruby--all my other references are mostly/entirely-drawn bows because that's all I could find), not yet pointed at a target, but getting ready.
As the series goes on, I imagine I'll refine her look a bit. Probably move slightly away from the young anime look into a slightly more hybridized older look, depending on my ability. (I want to keep as much of the anime look as I can, though. In particular, I found one incredibly awesome reference image of a girl wielding an energy bow. I can only dream to be that good. While I envision Ruby's bow to be slightly more tangible, especially with the grip, the image shown is basically exactly how I see Ruby's bow.) But so far, so good!
